What is HD Ready?

High Definition - HD for short is the new broadcast format of the future, delivering a much higher resolution. When you purchase a TV that is HD Ready, you can be assured that your TV is future proof.

But what does it mean?

The industry states that a HD Ready TV should be capable a minimum native resolution of 720i or 720p and should be capable of recieving a HD signal via Analog YPbPr or DVI ( with HDCP) or HDMI (with HDCP)

Basically, the more lines of pixels there are on screen the better the resolution and, therefore, a much better picture quality. A standard TV commonly displays 625 lines, but with the new improved HD technology, your picture will be much crisper and display much more true-to-life clarity.

Whats on?

Freeview covers almost seventy-five percent of the UK population. It has over 30 free TV and radio services.

You get all the BBC's digital TV and radio channels (included in your licence fee) as well as your 5 existing TV channels.

Why is HD Ready so important ?

If you have any of the latest gaming consoles like the Xbox 360 or the Playstation 3 you will need a HD television to experience them in full. Or if you want to watch sky HD or any high def subscription.
